c.o.’s monthly updates—august 2025
happy end of august, everyone! here’s your monthly update :) apologies for it being a bit late, the last week or so was hellbent on blowing me up with out-of-pocket tetanus shots and trying to put my hands back into five separate hobbies.
main thing: a good friend of mine published her book! if the idea of the devil having a psychotic break surrounding the events of the book of revelation interests you, then please go check out sancta seraphina’s novel Holiest. i’m still so proud of her and honored that i got to help with it. here’s to hopefully many more years of working together, sera. <3
second thing: it was my birthday! i got even more pride pins, which is making me worry a bit because i hoard pins and i’m running out of room on my lanyard. they’re all by hokum and snark and they’re very adorable, including a bi kitty. i had a pretty good time.
another thing: i’m gonna be going to a big librarian convention thing in september! very excited, it’s in a big city i haven’t been to in a while.
writing thing: i have a bit of news! i’ve given myself harder deadlines and goals i want to reach each day/week, specifically with word count. 200 a day, 1,400 a week. it may not seem like much at all, but that’s sort of the point—200 words just in one day is very achievable for me usually, yet it still makes my brain go ‘yippee i did a thing!’ i also have some very, very tentative publishing days in mind, depending on how this all goes. i won’t mention what they are now, because like i said, i’m pretty uncertain about them. i’m more worried about my beta readers getting enough time to actually get through the whole thing than anything because they all have far busier schedules than i do. i have practically zero short-term memory so i’ll probably forget the entire first draft after a week…will definitely make things easier if i’m right about that!
i think that’s all i have for this month. i’m glad the weather is finally starting to cool off where i am, at least for now. i’ll leave you all with a snippet related to a recent revelation i had about lucifer. i’ll see all of you next month. much love <3

"Before you return to Heaven…"
The Lord held out a length of white fabric, shimmering with iridescence and lined with lace at its edges—a headscarf. Lucifer took it, marveling at the smoothness of it before looking up at his Father. "It is lovely. Thank you."
"I made you perfect in beauty, but do not forget the value of modesty. Do not let the gazes of others draw yours from me."
"I would never, Father," Lucifer promised. Something rooted deep in his heart protested His words, saying that Lucifer was not beautiful and had never felt that he was so, but the Lord's praise of him muffled that thorny thing. To make Him proud was good; that was all Lucifer ever needed.
As the Lord allowed him to leave Eden, he wound the headscarf around himself carefully, fidgeting with the ends of it to make them lay against his chest. When he wandered back onto one of the lower tiers to peer at his reflection in the water of a small pond, he smiled at it timidly; the whiteness of the fabric was the most pure he had ever seen, like the fabric of His robe.
